Nishant Khosla is the Founding Partner of Khosla & Partners. His practice is principally focused on banking and financial regulation, regulatory enforcement, licensing and approvals, governance, financial services and FinTech, restructuring and regulatory disputes.

Before entering private practice, Nishant served with the Reserve Bank of India, where he worked across legal and regulatory matters concerning regulation, supervision and enforcement of financial institutions. His experience at the Reserve Bank included working with its Enforcement Department and on the Regulations Review Authority 2.0, as well as dealing with legal and regulatory issues concerning banking institutions, entities regulated by the Reserve Bank of India and the implementation and interpretation of RBI’s regulatory framework.

This institutional experience informs a practice focused on matters where legal analysis must be considered together with regulatory expectations, supervisory processes and the manner in which financial-sector regulation operates in practice.

Nishant advises banks, NBFCs, FinTech businesses, regulated entities, boards, promoters and senior management on regulatory structuring, licensing and approvals, regulatory inspections and enforcement proceedings, governance, digital lending, outsourcing and LSP arrangements, account aggregation, restructuring, distressed situations and other complex regulatory matters.

His work also includes advising on the regulatory aspects of changes in banking architecture and business models, including matters concerning RBI-regulated entities and Small Finance Banks, as well as regulatory strategy for new and evolving financial businesses.

On contentious matters, Nishant advises and represents clients in proceedings involving regulatory and public law issues before courts, tribunals, regulatory authorities and other judicial and quasi-judicial forums.

He holds an LL.M., in which he was awarded the Gold Medal, and is enrolled as an Advocate.
